A Special Prize...

Gennovah and Boston don't really have any toys that they can ride around outside, and it had been super hard with our neighbors and their kids with tricycles and push toys and small riding toys. Sharing became an issue especially for the younger children that really didn't yet understand how important the concept is. So we counted the money in Gennovah's piggy bank and off to Target we went.

Gennovah had saved $33.00! I couldn't believe how much she had in that little piggy! I guess when you earn a nickle here and a nickle there for chores everyday it all adds up. Anyway, we decided that she could spend it on a bicycle or as Gennovah says a "bi-cy-cycle". We got it in the cart and Gennovah couldn't stop laughing and smiling about her new bike that she was going to buy. She really wanted the Disney Princess bike but didn't have enough money for it, so we looked for a bell and found a princess bell and she was happy with that.

Gennovah proudly showed her bike in the box off to daddy and asked him to "fik it" or fix it, because it needed to be put together. She helped where she could by taking cardboard off certain areas and happily ringing the bell when she was watching. After the bike was put together we had to fill up the tires to be able to ride so daddy pumped them up and then it was time to try it out.

Gennovah knows that we have to wear a helmet when we ride so that we can stay safe. Gennovah got up and didn't go anywhere. She wanted to be pushed so we tried to show her how to move her feet and pedal. She is so good at braking! I know that she will eventually understand how to pedal the more we ride, but she gets frustrated after a little while when she doesn't move.

However...

Boston threw a huge fit when her bike was put together and she got to ride it first. I mean serious fit, throwing himself on the ground and crying :) So after a few minutes of his outrageous behavior we thought it would be a good idea to get him his own bike so he can start learning and by next summer, both will be a pro and we can all go out and ride bikes! Boston was so excited about his bike once daddy got back from the store. He waited patiently as we put it together. He can climb up onto the seat so easily and loved to be pushed around. He does have to learn how to steer it around because we always drift off the sidewalk and into the grass! When there is just one of us to push them he is content pushing the bike back and forth and watching how the wheels work.

What can we say...our kids are growing up so fast. I mean they both have bikes now, what is next?
